Emily is a cut above the rest with hairdressing success

Emily Reed, a former pupil at Frederick Gough School was keen to pursue a career in hairdressing.  After undertaking her school work experience in a local hairdressing salon, Emily applied to do an Apprenticeship in hairdressing with Kieran Mullin Salons.

Before Emily commenced her Apprenticeship, she developed her skills and experience through the Ambitions programme.  Achieving her Level 1 NVQ in hairdressing and Level 1 Certificate in Adult Numeracy, provided her with the ideal stepping stone for the Apprenticeship Programme with Kieran Mullin/ KM Training.

“I am happy that I have achieved my qualifications.  The qualifications have helped me complete my goal of pursuing my career with Kieran Mullin.”

Well done Emily for achieving your goals and ambitions.

SouthBank Training Champion Road Safety Awareness

SouthBank Training Ltd learners relish in the opportunity to undertake road safety awareness training at the RTC Training Centre in conjunction with BDV Group ltd and Humberside Fire and Rescue.

The Road Safety training course took place in Flixborough on the 24th November 2010 and saw 16 Foundation Learners take an informative journey through the practical and theoretical aspects of Road Safety.  Topics included first aid, health and safety, air bag demonstrations, the firefighter’s story and extraction techniques. The participating learners developed a greater understanding of road traffic safety and enjoyed the experiences and skills they developed during the course.

I really enjoyed the day.  I especially enjoyed the practical side to the day, getting into the uniform and cutting up cars and using all the specialist equipment.
I learnt a lot of new things, like how to save someone’s life if they weren’t breathing, how to do CPR and how to put a person in the recovery position whilst waiting for help.  I learnt all about road safety and the effects of road accidents.  After yesterday I may be interested in a job in this area.

Barton SouthBank Training and also Scunthorpe Training centre all got together and had loads of fun.  I enjoyed it loads, it was a great experience and I am so glad I took part.
I would love to do something like that again.  I got on really well with the Scunthorpe people and we all enjoyed spending time with each other and we worked as a team.
The videos hit me and made me understand why people should wear seatbelts and not texting or be on your phone and also DRIVE carefully.
A big thank you to the people who invited us.
Jade Melbourne, SBT Barton

The SouthBank Training Ltd Foundation Learners continued to praise the tutors and organisations involved in the Road Safety training event as they developed their team working skills and understanding of the dangers on the road.

My favourite part of the day was cutting up the car and learning how to free people in different scenarios.  I am grateful to the police officer and Jo, because of them I know how to give CPR and put someone in the recovery position in case someone stops breathing.  It’s made me think more about road safety and how it can affect people mentally and physically.  If I can do the day course again, I would definitely do it one hundred times more, because I had so much fun meeting people and learning new things.
Lerrinda Simpson, SBT Barton

I enjoyed the RTC Training Day yesterday, it was very helpful and interesting.  There was lots of things I had learned whilst I was there, the main one was how to put a person that has had an accident or is unconscious into a recovery position.  The best bit I liked about yesterday was when we had to rescue someone from the car, for example; cut the roof off the car, take all the doors off and smash the windows, but making sure that the person in the car was safe.  I would love to do this course again!

We would like to thank Humberside Police, Humberside Fire and Rescue and BDV Group Ltd for making us feel welcome and delivering an excellent course.
